After Mark Fletcher Jr. signed with Miami as part of its 2023 recruiting, the Hurricanes have continued recruiting American Heritage Plantation High School’s running back room with their push for 2025 prospect Byron Louis.

The rising junior has held a Miami offer since May 2021 and made an unofficial visit to UM in April 2022.

And with the Hurricanes set to host a multitude of high-end recruits throughout this spring, they brought Louis back for another visit this past Thursday.

This visit was crucial, allowing Louis to spend time with new Hurricanes running backs coach Tim Harris Jr.

“The visit went great. I was able to catch up with Coach Tim Harris Jr. and spoke to [head coach] Mario Cristobal for a few,” Louis told LifeWallet Sports. “Those are some great guys. I will definitely be back later in the spring/summer.”

Louis had a previous connection with Harris when the coach was at Central Florida.

“My parents and I have built a relationship with him back when he was at UCF,” Louis said. “So, now that he is in Miami, we can take off from where we left off. Awesome guy!”

Louis ran for 439 yards and 11 touchdowns on 55 carries last season in relief of Fletcher. He is expected to be given a larger workload in his junior campaign as the lead running back for the Patriots.

The 6-foot-0, 205-pound back also holds offers from Alabama, Georgia, Oklahoma, Florida State, Ohio State and others.
