2024 defensive lineman Jowhar Franklin Jr. has been one of the fastest-rising prospects since he received his first offer from Connecticut on Dec. 31, 2022. Over the past three months, Franklin has received offers from schools including Ole Miss, Missouri, Florida State, Texas A&M, Cincinnati and recently, Miami.

Franklin was given this offer by the Hurricanes after traveling down to Coral Gables for UM’s Junior Day on March 4.

“I was leaving, but I was on my way to the car and I didn’t feel right because I ain’t say [bye] to nobody, and I went back to go say goodbye and [Miami defensive line coach Joe] Salavea’a and [head coach Mario] Cristobal was together, and we talked for like 10 minutes,” Franklin told LifeWallet Sports. “ We’ve been in contact, probably since summer. So I guess they just wanted to meet me in person and see how I was and my height and my measurements and stuff, and I got the [offer].”

Added Franklin about his reaction to the offer, “I was excited man. Who don’t want to play at ‘The U’?”

Standing at 6-foot-6 and weighing 300 pounds, Franklin is one of the most physically gifted defensive linemen in the 2024 recruiting cycle. He was also a vital member of John Curtis (La.) High School’s state championship run last season.

Franklin visited Florida State on March 5 and plans to visit Memphis on March 19 and Texas on March 25.
